CAGAYAN DE ORO, Philippines – The city police has warned residents to be on guard against a robbery group whose members pose as power firm workers sent to repair electrical connections of households.
The new modus was discovered after the group robbed the house of the mother of Vice Mayor Caesar Ian Acenas in Barangay Patag yesterday.
Police said four men wearing caps were seen loitering outside the house before the heist.
Acenas’ aunt was alone in the house when the men knocked. She said she did not let them in and told them there was no problem with their electrical connection.
She said she was in the bathroom when she heard a sound from the bedroom and saw a man rummaging through their things.
The man fled taking with him a sling bag containing cash and jewelry estimated to be worth P300,000.
