MANILA, Philippines - Typhoon "Neneng" entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) before Friday noon but it is expected to spare the country, the state weather bureau said.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said in its latest update that the typhoon was located at 1,385 kilometers east of Itbayat, Batanes.

Neneng is packing maximum sustained winds of 175 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gusts of up to 210 kph.

Forecast to move northwest at 20 kph, Neneng is expected to be at 1,180 kilometers northeast of Itbayat
or outside PAR on Saturday morning.

Heavy to intense rainfall amount (7.5 to 30 millimeters per hour) was estimated within the 700-kilometer diameter of the typhoon.

PAGASA said Neneng is still too far to affect any part of the country. It is, however, expected to enhance the northeasterly winds which will result to rough to very rough sea conditions over the northern and eastern seaboard of Northern Luzon this weekend.

The agency is advising fisherfolks and those with small seacrafts not to venture out over the said seaboards.
