2 suspects in Digos City broadcaster’s slay charged

DAVAO CITY, Philippines – Police have filed murder charges against the suspected triggerman and driver of the getaway motorcycle in last Friday’s killing of broadcaster Samuel Oliverio in Digos City, Davao del Sur.

Superintendent Querubin Manalang, Digos City police chief, identified the suspected gunman as one Rady Cabales, who was positively identified by Rowena Baylosis, wife of the slain broadcaster.

The driver of the getaway motorcycle was unnamed in the murder complaint filed on Monday afternoon.

Oliverio and Baylosis had come from the Digos City public market onboard a motorcycle when they were attacked.

Oliverio was fatally hit in the head and neck, while Baylosis sustained contusions.

Manalang told The STAR that once Cabales is arrested, his cohort could eventually be identified.

Oliverio was a “blocktimer” of Radyo Ukay in Digos City.
