MANILA, Philippines - The state weather bureau has issued a yellow rainfall advisory in Metro Manila and nine other areas, which experienced heavy downpour on Monday morning.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) issued the downgraded rainfall alert at 11:45 a.m. for Metro Manila, Rizal, Bulacan, Pampanga, Zambales, Bataan and portions of Laguna, Quezon, Cavite and Occidental Mindoro.

"Moderate to at times heavy rainfall is expected over Metro Manila, Rizal, Bulacan, Pampanga and portions of Laguna, Quezon, Cavite, Batangas and Occidental Mindoro which may persist within 3 hours," PAGASA said.

However, the agency also said heavy to at times intense rainfall is affecting Zambales and Bataan and it would continue for the next three hours.

The weather bureau also warned of flooding in low-lying areas.

The southwest monsoon or Habagat has been dumping rains over Metro Manila and several other areas in Luzon since the weekend.

On Monday morning, PAGASA issued two orange rainfall advisories for Metro Manila, which had some roads and areas flooded.
