Bad weather leaves 3 dead in Bicol

LEGAZPI CITY, Philippines– Flashfloods and big waves spawned by continuing moderate to heavy rains across the Bicol region and the prevailing tail-end of the cold front have left at least three people dead and two others missing in Sorsogon, Camarines Sur and Catanduanes, the Office of Civil Defense said yesterday.

OCD-Bicol director Raffy Alejandro identified the fatalities as Antonette Miserilla, 30, and her son Errol John, 4, of Sipicot, Camarines Sur; and Edwin de la Concepcion, 25, of Gigmoto, Catanduanes.

Alejandro said the Miserillas were riding their carabao when rampaging floodwaters swept them away. They were found dead in a tight embrace hours later.
