Army vice commander passes away

MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Army lost one of its most senior officers Monday night, but not in the battlefield but to heart ailment.

Maj. Gen. Rudival Cabading, 55, Army vice commander, died of cardiac arrest while doctors at the Fort Bonifacio General Hospital were trying to revive him.

Army spokesman Col. Antonio Parlade said Cabading was initially found unconscious by family members at the comfort room of their house at the AFP Officers’ Village in Fort Bonifacio. He was rushed to the hospital but died of cardiac arrest at around 11:45 p.m. Monday.

“The Philippine Army joins his whole family and friends in grieving for the loss of a loving husband, a devoted father, a good friend, and a dedicated soldier and public servant,” said Parlade, speaking on behalf of Army chief Lt. Gen. Arturo Ortiz.

“The Philippine Army will accord him full military honors during his burial,” Parlade said.
