Pangasinan marks founding day

-

LINGAYEN , Philippines  – A display of Pangasinan’s bests will be one of the highlights of this year’s “Parada na Dayew” with the theme “Aliguas na Baley, Aliguas na Luyag” tomorrow featuring 12 floats showcasing the various products and development programs and projects of the provincial government and the participating local governments.

Spectators will get a glimpse of Pangasinan’s premier products like the sugpo and malaga of Binmaley, the mangoes of San Carlos City, corn of Sto. Tomas, the famous bagoong of Lingayen, puto of Calasiao, and tupig of Laoac, among others.

Alex Ferrer, chairman of the event, said the float parade will kick off at the Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center at 3 p.m., going to Artacho Street, Poblacion Area, Maramba Boulevard and the Capitol.

The Parada na Dayew is part of the celebration of the province’s 431st founding anniversary dubbed “Agew na Pangasinan.”

Based on the work of a research and study committee, Gov. Amado Espino Jr. signed Provincial Ordinance 143-2010 last year declaring April 5, 1580 as the official founding day of Pangasinan, as approved by Sangguniang Panlalawigan.

The first observance of Agew na Pangasinan last year featured a grand parade of floats depicted the different eras in the history of Pangasinan.

This year, the floats are decorated with indigenous and recyclable materials and will carry the best products and significant programs and projects of 22 local government units.

Apart from the 12 floats, other local governments will present street dances with accompanying drum and lyre, and drum and bugle corps.
