2 vessels collide off Cebu

CEBU, Philippines – Two ships collided off the coast of Talisay City this province while trying to enter the Mactan Channel early yesterday morning.

Cebu Coast Guard station commander Rolando Punzalan said MV SuperFerry 2 from Nasipit, Agusan del Norte reportedly overtook the starboard side of cargo ship MV General Romulo from Cagayan de Oro City.

Fisherman said MV General Romulo blew its horn to warn the approaching ship, but it was too late and the vessels collided. No one was reported hurt in the incident. – Ryan Christopher Sorote/Freeman News Service
