Finswimmers to mark ICC Day 2009 in Anilao

MANILA, Philippines - For years now, volunteers from the Philippine Finswimming Federation Inc. have been helping Anilao maintain its pristine beauty and world-class standard when it comes to finswimming, diving and underwater photography, through cleanup activities.

This is in relation to the Finswimming Federation’s advocacy – “To develop the sport of finswimming means to create environmental awareness in every finswimmer in order to become a more responsible and more focused athlete of this country.”

Along with Philippine Life Saving, the sea becomes the most important part of the athlete’s training.

The finswimming sport and the cleanup have been supported by the local governments of Quezon City through Mayor Sonny Belmonte and Mabini, Batangas through Mayor Nilo Villanueva.

The International Coastal Cleanup (ICC) Day 2009 will be held on Sept. 19 at the Anilao port, starting at 8 a.m.

The event is also supported by the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. (Pagcor) and Speedo. For inquiries, contact Anne Reyes at +639213069575 or 02-5575785, or e-mail at fin@philippinefinswimming.com.
