Armed men molest 2 MSU coeds

Three men armed with handguns barged into the students’ dormitory of the Mindanao State University (MSU) in Marawi City and sexually molested two coeds aged 19 and 22 before dawn yesterday.

The incident, according to an MSU official, occurred at around 2 a.m. while all the dorm occupants, all government scholars, were asleep.

The sexual assault happened as the MSU management has yet to resolve the month-long abduction of a professor of its biology department.

One of the suspects though was cornered by male students who were awakened by one of the victims’ cry for help. The two others managed to escape.

Meanwhile, the faculty and students of the MSU biology department ended a nine-day “holiday” they declared last month to protest the unresolved kidnapping of biology professor Erwin Nacua.

The biology department’s shutdown affected some 10,000 MSU students.

Nacua’s kidnappers have demanded P5-million ransom for his release. – Jaime Laude
