Tropical storm "Chedeng" 9international codename: Pabuk) brought rains to Luzon and is expected to to intensify into a typhoon, according to the weather bureau Monday.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported that at 2:00 a.m. today, Chedeng was estimated based on satellite and surface data at 1,070 kms East of Batanes with maximum sustained winds of 95 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 120 kph.

The tropical storm is forecast to move west northwest at 19 kph with moderate to strong southwesterly surface windflow prevailing over the western sections of Luzon and Visayas.
