Employees of the Philippine National Red Cross (PNRC) will climb eight volcanoes across the country to drum up the celebration of World Red Cross Day on May 8.
Sen. Richard Gordon, PNRC chairman, said the activity is meant to make Filipinos more aware of volunteerism and encourage them to join the PNRC.
"This message is in keeping with the World Red Cross Day theme of Universal Assistance through Volunteering, which pays tribute to the millions of volunteers who help implement Red Cross missions," he said.
Guided by the theme "Volunteers for Volcanoes Exploring the Craters," PNRC employees will start their trek tomorrow, expecting to reach the peak of the eight volcanoes in at least two days.
The eight volcanoes are Mt. Banahaw, Mt. Arayat in Pampanga, Mt. Hibok-Hibok in Camiguin, Taal Volcano in Batangas, Mt. Kanlaon in Negros Occidental, Mt. Parker in South Cotabato, Mt. Isarog in Camarines Sur, and Cuernos de Negros in Negros Oriental.
