MANILA, Philippines — Britney Spears continues to be full of surprises, even after retiring from music.
The artist dropped over the weekend the unreleased track "She’ll Never Be Me" which was initially recorded for her self-titled 2001 album which carried the singles "I'm a Slave 4 U," "I'm Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman," and her cover of "I Love Rock 'n' Roll."

"She’ll Never Be Me," booming with classic Britney, was co-written by the singer over two decades ago with her then-boyfriend Justin Timberlake as well as Bradley Daymond and Alex Greggs who both wrote for Justin's former group *NSYNC.
"You know I'm one of a kind (There'll never be another me), can't get me out of your mind (You're lost in your own fantasy). And when you look in my eyes, is it hard for you to realize, she'll never be me," goes the song's chorus.
The track is one of many releases that will feature on the silver anniversary edition of "Britney" coming out next month.
That special 25-track edition will also have "I'm a Slave 4 U" B-side "Intimidated," "Right Now (Taste the Victory)" from Britney's 2002 Pepsi commercial, and other unreleased songs like "Am I a Sinner," "When I Say So," and "My Big Secret."
"What It's Like to Be Me," a song Justin co-wrote and co-produced for the original "Britney" album, will also be included.
Britney and Justin dated for three years before splitting up in early 2002, leading to Justin dropping hit song "Cry Me A River" said to be inspired by the celebrity break-up.
The last piece of music Britney freshly recorded were collaborations with will.i.am and Elton John in 2023 and 2022 respectively, while she herself has not released an album in a decade. — Video from Britney Spears' YouTube channel
