Estrada said social workers were conducting clearing operations to rid the streets of homeless people.

“We are giving them food, medicine and temporary shelters,” he said.

Lindsay Javier and Ampi Naron, MDSW team leaders, said the vagrants were rounded up in the streets of Abad Santos and Hermosa in Tondo, Baseco Compound, Plaza Ruiz in Binondo, Claro M. Recto, Tomas Mapua, Sampaloc and Liwasang Bonifacio.

MDSW chief Nanet Tanyag said a majority of the street dwellers are minors and out of school youth.
