MANILA, Philippines - A Chinese man was shot by a still unidentified assailant along Kalayaan Avenue in Barangay Bel-Air, Makati City Thursday night.

Hualong Wu, 42, was driving his black Mazda CX-7 sport utility vehicle (SUV) at about 7 p.m. with his partner as a passenger when he was attacked as he approached the village gate, police said.

Wu managed to get out of the SUV and run toward the village gate to ask the guards for help.

Police said Wu sustained gunshot wounds in various parts of the body and was rushed by responding members of the Makati rescue team to Makati Medical Center, where he was reported to be in stable condition.

Investigators recovered from the crime scene four spent shells and a slug.

Police have yet still to determine the motive for the shooting.
