36 hurt in 6-vehicle smashup in Makati

MANILA, Philippines - At least 36 persons were rushed to different hospitals following a multiple vehicle collision at the intersection of EDSA and McKinley Road in Makati City yesterday morning.

A Pascual Liner bus (TXH-325), a Genesis Transport bus (TXJ-105), an HM Transport bus (UYC-218), a Jacq Daniel taxi (UVG-218), a closed van (NIV-265) and a motorcycle (1202-UV) were involved in the accident.

The driver of the Pascual Liner bus lost control and hit the taxi, triggering the smashup along EDSA’s northbound lane at around 10:28 a.m., said the Makati police’s traffic division.

Those injured – including Pascual Liner driver Paolo Calbaryo, who was pinned in the driver’s seat – were taken to the Ospital ng Makati, Makati Medical Center, Rizal Medical Center and the Taguig-Pateros District Hospital.
