Teen dies after fistfight

MANILA, Philippines – A 14-year-old boy died in a hospital Tuesday, days after engaging in a fistfight in Tondo, Manila.

Jofrey dela Cruz died of sepsis at the Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center just before midnight. He was clad in only a diaper when police investigators saw him in the morgue.

Police said the victim challenged another male, identified only as Jeff, to a fistfight at the intersection of Dagupan and Tayuman streets before dawn on Jan. 21. Annoyed, Jeff punched and kicked the victim in the lower right part of his abdomen.

The Manila Police District is searching for Jeff.
