Manhunt on for ‘killer’ councilman
MANILA, Philippines – The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) has launched a manhunt for a barangay councilman who allegedly shot dead a 69-year-old man and his son Thursday morning, police said yesterday.
Barangay Santol kagawad Anacleto de Torres was reportedly drinking with victims Rodney Deanon and his son, Raymund, in front of their house when they got into an argument, Police Officer 3 Jaime de Jesus said.
A barangay watchman tried to pacify the Deanons and De Torres, but the councilman drew a gun and shot Raymund then his father, De Jesus said.
Witnesses said De Torres sped away on his motorcycle while the victims were taken to the UERM Hospital, where they were declared dead on arrival from several gunshot wounds.
Teen shot dead during revelry
A teenager was gunned down at the height of the New Year’s Eve revelry in Tondo, Manila.
Mark Joseph Relucio, 17, an out-of-school youth, had just stepped out of his house in Parola Compound at past 1 a.m. when an unidentified assailant shot him from behind several times, Police Officer 3 Marlon San Pedro said.
Relucio died at the scene while the assailant fled on foot.
San Pedro said investigators have yet to determine the motive for the killing and the identity of the assailant. – With Rey Galupo
