5 girls rescued from Pasay pimps

MANILA, Philippines – Five girls and two women were rescued from three pimps in a motel in Pasay City, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) said yesterday.

NBI Anti-Human Trafficking Division (AHTRAD) investigator Doriente Durian said the three pimps, all women, will be charged with human trafficking and child abuse – both non-bailable – before the Department of Justice. He did not name the pimps.

He said an informant tipped off the NBI-AHTRAD about the pimps, who bring the victims to clients waiting at the motel. The pimps reportedly run their business on the sidewalk of F.B. Harrison street.

The girls told the NBI agents most of their clients were Filipinos and they get paid between P1,200 and P1,500. They also said that they sometimes get only P400 as their take-home pay since, aside from their pimp’s cut, they are also charged for the make-up used on them and the use of the tricycle to bring them to the motel.

The girls and women were turned over to the Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking operations center.
