3 ‘cops’ rob, beat up cyclist

MANILA, Philippines - A 34-year-old man filed a complaint with the Manila Police District (MPD) yesterday morning, saying three police officers robbed him and beat him up.

Jayson Villarama, jobless and a resident of San Miguel district, said the police officers – led by a certain Police Officer 3 ES Abenoja – accosted him as he was biking along N. Lopez street near the Ayala Bridge at around 5:30 a.m.

He alleged that the policemen took his BMX bicycle, low-end cell phone, rubber shoes and P200 he had in his pockets.
