Man kills wife at bingo game

MANILA, Philippines - A woman was reportedly hacked to death by her husband after she sneaked off to join a bingo game in Baseco Compound at Port Area, Manila Sunday afternoon.

Monica Banez, 56, was declared dead on arrival at Gat Andres Bonifacio Memorial Medical Center. Her husband, Arsenio Banez, was detained at Manila Police District’s homicide section.

Arsenio was asleep when Monica reportedly left their home to play bingo. When he woke up at around 5 p.m. and found her missing, he grabbed a butcher’s knife and went looking for her, Police Officer 3 Marlon San Pedro said.

Arsenio attacked Monica when he found her at the game, he added. The suspect has been charged before the city prosecutor’s office.
