Woman found dead in rented room

MANILA, Philippines - A 30-year-old woman was found dead in her rented room in Pasig City Monday.

Investigators are checking whether there is foul play involved in the death of Mariel Mangundakan, a native of Mindanao, because she had a bruise around her right eye, city police chief Senior Superintendent Mario Rariza said.

Her neighbor, Nora Buenaflor, told police she was on her way to the bathroom when she saw Mangundakan lying on the floor at around 6 p.m.

Senior Police Officer 1 Randy Aurella said no one heard any commotion in the victim’s room prior to the discovery of the body.
