3 arrested for selling stolen van to owner

MANILA, Philippines - Three persons were arrested in an entrapment at a Pasay City restaurant yesterday after they allegedly tried to sell a stolen van to its owner.

Roilo dela Serna, Laura Carbonera and Aurora dela Cruz were apprehended by members of the Las Piñas police anti-car theft unit as they tried to convince Ariel Cabrera to buy the van, Senior Superintendent Adolfo Samala said.

Cabrera told police the van was rented by a certain Maria Gonzalez for P2,000 per day but she did not return it. On Monday, a buyer went to Cabrera’s residence in San Pedro, Laguna and asked about the vehicle, police anti-car theft unit head Chief Inspector Mario Solero said.

He said Cabrera told the buyer it was a stolen car and asked that he pretend to be the buyer to get his van back.
