Boratong henchman falls in shabu tiangge raid

MANILA, Philippines - An alleged henchman of shabu “tiangge (flea market)” operator Amin Imam Boratong was arrested during a raid in Pasig City Thursday.

Edgardo Sorilla, 58, yielded drug paraphernalia, gun replicas, two air guns, a .45 caliber pistol, a laser sight, a box of .45 caliber bullets and a sword, according to Senior Superintendent Mario Rariza, Pasig City police chief.

It was the second raid on the shabu tiangge at the Mapayapa Compound near the city hall since it reopened earlier this year after law enforcers shut it down in 2006.

Rariza said they are verifying reports that Sorilla is a member of the Boratong’s drug syndicate. Boratong and his wife, Sheryl Molera, were sentenced to life imprisonment for operating the shabu tiangge.
