Laborer wins P93-M lotto pot with adopted baby’s birthdate
MANILA, Philippines - A laborer won the P93-million jackpot of the 6/49 Super Lotto’s Dec. 4 draw by picking a combination that included his adopted baby girl’s birthdate, the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) said yesterday.
PCSO general manager Jose Ferdinand Rojas II said the laborer claimed the prize Monday afternoon for hitting the winning combination, 30-01-14-20-41-42.
Rojas said the laborer told him he bought the ticket on the way to a hospital with his partner to have their three-month-old baby treated for an infection. The infant was left by her mother, the laborer’s former co-worker, who begged that he take care of the baby because she was jobless.
He said they had spent their savings and sold their television set to pay for the baby’s hospital expenses, according to Rojas.
The laborer told Rojas he thought of buying four lotto tickets that included his adopted daughter’s birthdate, his own, and the day he and his partner became engaged.
The winner plans to use his prize to pay for the baby’s hospital bills, buy a house and lot, donate to the church and save for their baby’s future.
