Man tries suicide twice at LRT

MANILA, Philippines - A man tried to commit suicide twice at the Light Railway Transit (LRT) stations in Pasay City yesterday.

LRT spokesman Hernando Cabrera told The STAR the still unidentified man ran past the gate at the Libertad station at around 3 p.m. and jumped onto the tracks as the train approached.

“But the train stopped without hitting the victim so he ran toward the Buendia station and our security guards pursued him,” he said.

The man then jumped from the railway to the street below. Motorists stopped and were able to avoid hitting him, barangay officials said.

The man was brought to the Pasay City Hospital, where he is being treated for injuries, Cabrera said.
