13-year-old boy hangs self

MANILA, Philippines - A 13-year-old boy hanged himself yesterday morning after being scolded by his grandmother for not attending his classes.

Police said the body of the boy, a first-year high school student of Sauyo High School in Quezon City, was found at around 7 a.m.

The boy’s grandmother, 52, told police that he hanged himself from a tree using the strap of his school bag.

The grandmother said the boy refused to go to school because his teachers allegedly told him that he had no more chance of passing. The boy reportedly failed his science subject and had been skipping classes since October.
