Quezon City seniors granted free admission to cinemas

MANILA, Philippines - The National Cinema Association of the Philippines has agreed to grant senior citizens in Quezon City free admission to two film screenings in all NCAP theaters in the city during Mondays and Tuesdays.

The free admission is until 5 p.m. and instead of the regular one free movie screening, seniors get two. NCAP members in the city include the SM mall chain (Fairview, Centerpoint, North and Cubao), Trinoma, Eastwood, Gateway, Ali Mall, Waltermart and Robinson’s Fairview.

Mayor Herbert Bautista has requested this, noting the importance of providing better services to the city’s senior citizens. He earlier ordered the provision to senior citizens with movie booklets to regulate admission and simplify monitoring procedures.

During Bautista’s term as vice mayor, the city council adopted a resolution urging all cinema operators in the city to grant free admission to all senior citizens of the city during the first screening of all films.

NCAP director Eduardo Sazon clarified that the free admission only applies on regular 35 mm movies and not on films shown on IMAX theaters, including 3D movies.

The office for senior citizens, chaired by Lino Illera, also coordinates with NCAP for the implementation of the program.
