Architect killed in Pasig fire

MANILA, Philippines - A 69-year-old architect died in a two-hour fire that destroyed property estimated at P200,000 in Pasig City yesterday.

The charred body of the victim, Bayani Santos, was recovered by responding firemen in the bedroom of his house on Pasig Boulevard in Barangay Bagong Ilog at about 5:55 a.m.

Fire prober FO3 Zaldy Esmalde said Santos went to sleep after arriving home at about 3:35 a.m. yesterday when the fire broke out. Esmalde said nobody roused Santos.

The fire reached the third alarm, and responding firemen from Pasig City and nearby cities battled the fire for two hours until they had the blaze under control.

Esmalde said they are trying to determine the cause of the fire. – Non Alquitran
