Fire razes 30 houses in Parañaque
MANILA, Philippines - A fire broke out in a residential area in Barangay La Huerta, Parañaque City Sunday night, destroying around 30 houses and leaving at least 60 families homeless.
Superintendent Manuel Manuel, ground commander of the local Bureau of Fire Protection, said the fire started at around 10:26 p.m. on the third floor of a house owned by Ruben Biaculo along P. Dandan street. It destroyed about P.5 million worth of property.
The fire, which reached the fifth alarm, was put out at about 12:56 a.m. after seven firetrucks rushed to the scene – five from the local fire station and two manned by volunteer firefighters.
Firemen said the narrow streets made it difficult for them to immediately contain the fire. No one was reported injured in the incident.
Manuel said a follow-up investigation is now ongoing to determine the cause of fire. – Rhodina Villanueva
