Fire guts INC church in Makati
A fire hit the Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) church in Barangay Palanan, Makati City yesterday morning.
Senior Fire Officer 1 Gerson Moncada, arson investigator, said the fire started at the INC building at the corner of Arellano and Bautista streets around 6:48 a.m.
The fire consumed the roof and the interior of the building, and only the frame of the church was left standing.
“The investigation is still ongoing. Even though there was no worship service scheduled around that time, it is possible that an electrical appliance like an electric fan or organ that overheated could have started the fire,” Moncada said.
Firefighters from six firetrucks helped control the blaze, which was put out at 7:36 a.m. No one was reported injured in the fire. – Rhodina Villanueva
