Roxas Blvd., EDSA, Macapagal Ave. closed to traffic for Lovapalooza

-
The National Capital Regional Police Office (NCRPO) has advised the public on the expected heavy traffic along Roxas Boulevard, Diosdado Macapagal Avenue and EDSA going to the SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City tomorrow from 6 p.m. to past midnight.

This is in connection with CloseUp Lovapalooza, an annual Philippine Valentine celebration and a nationwide effort from the Philippines to reclaim the Guinness World Record™ of most couples kissing simultaneously from Hungary.

Ocean Drive, corner Sunset Drive at the SM Mall of Asia will be closed due to an on-going construction, and Seaside Boulevard and Coray Way will be blocked after 10 p.m. to ensure the safety of participating CloseUp Lovapalooza couples. Participants who will arrive before 4 p.m. are advised to park at the multi-level parking on both sides of the SM Mall of Asia main building, and those coming after 4 p.m. may park in the designated parking areas outside the mall, along Harbor Drive and Pacific Drive.

Due to the number of people who are expected to come and participate in the event, NCRPO Regional Director Reynaldo Varilla assured additional protective measures to ensure the safety of all the participants. Varilla also promised to "increase the number of policemen manning the event, having K-9 units secure the area before and during the event and send members of the Regional Special Action Unit (RSAU)." Around 700 police, traffic and rescue officers, safety units, medical aides and security people have been employed to secure the CloseUp Lovapalooza venue.
