Student shot in Caloocan

A heated verbal argument that began with a careless snide remark led to the shooting of an 18-year-old student early yesterday in Caloocan City.

The victim, Julius Ceasar Estampa, a resident of Gen. Pio Valenzuela street in Caloocan City, was with his friends along McArthur Highway, near a restaurant, when they came across the suspect, Edilberto Manalese, 22, a resident of 105 2nd Avenue, also in Caloocan City.

A snide remark was made during the chance meeting and soon led to an altercation between Estampa and Manalese.

Armed with a caliber .22 revolver, Manalese fired several shots, hitting the victim once on the left shoulder.

Estampa was rushed to and treated at the President Diosdado Macapagal Memorial Medical Center.

SPO1 Reynaldo Gallano, PO2 Nelson Castro and PO1 Benjamin Lim of the Mobile Patrol of the Caloocan Police Station arrested the suspect.

The arresting officers recovered a revolver marked H&R 923, loaded with four rounds of live ammunition and two empty cartridge casing in its cylinder. With Zsarina Salazar
