May 13, 2005 | 12:00am
An hour-long fire razed some four houses in a crowded neighborhood in Sampaloc, Manila shortly before noon yesterday. The second to occur in the district in a week.
The fire reportedly started at around 11 a.m. at the kitchen of a house at 430 Kundiman street in Sampaloc owned by one Azucena Cadampog.
Firefighters said the fire razed some four neighboring houses made of light wooden materials before it was finally put out an hour later. The fire reached the fourth alarm.
There were no reports of injury or death during the fire.
Arson investigator SF01 Gaudencio Magallanes Jr. said they are still looking into the cause of the fire. Damage to property was placed at P200,000.
Only last Friday, a three-hour fire razed a furniture shop and a two-story house along Geronimo street, also in Sampaloc.
Firefighters had a hard time extinguishing both fires due to the narrow streets crowded with the residents belongings. Nestor Etolle
