Razon is hoping that with the cooperation of barangay officials and local residents, video karera games would be completely licked before the year ends.
"We are conducting a house-to-house search of the illegal machines following numerous reports forwarded to us by barangay officials and residents. Our initial operations paid off," said Razon in an interview.
According to the Metro police chief, the NCRPO has a standing order of battle against video karera operators and financiers as well as policemen who are protecting them.
The NCRPO chief refused to name those in the order of battle but Star sources said the biggest video karera operator in Metro Manila was a certain Randy Sy, who was often heard boasting that hes a godson of Manila Mayor Lito Atienza.
Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Edgar Aglipay has thrown his full support last week to the NCRPOs campaign against video karera.
Aglipay and Razon led Manila policemen in burning at least 22 units of confiscated video karera machines in Tondo last week.
Reports reaching Razon showed that the Southern Police District under Chief Superintendent Wilfredo Garcia will also burn confiscated video karera machines at the SPD headquarters in Fort Bonifacio today.
For his part, Chief Superintendent Noe Wong, director of the Northern Police District (NPD), gave his four station commanders up to Oct. 13 to report the results of their ongoing operations against video karera.
"So far my men have conducted at least 10 successful operations against the banned machines, the highest among the five police districts," said Wong, adding that his office is still collating the reports of their successful initial operations.
Wong admitted that some of the video karera operators and financiers in Caloocan City, Valenzuela City, Malabon and Navotas were policemen but he declined to name them pending thorough verification.
"We have our own order of battle against video karera financiers and protectors. But we are still in the process of verifying them so as not to put innocent policemen and their families in bad light," said Wong.
Eastern Police District (EPD) director Chief Superintendent Oscar Valenzuela said his men have been scouring the cities of Mandaluyong, Marikina and Pasig and the town of San Juan for video karera machines but not a single unit was confiscated.
Despite the negative results of their operations, the EPD director vowed that the campaign against the illegal game machines continue.
