36-hour water service cutoff in Manila, Pasay

Parts of Manila and Pasay cities will have no water for 36 hours starting at 10 p.m., Friday, Jan. 16 to 10 a.m., Sunday, Jan. 18, 2004.

Maynilad Water said the water service interruption will pave the way for the insertion of two 600-mm butterfly valves into the existing 750-mm mainline at A. Francisco street at the parking lot of the Pabahay sa Riles, HSG Compound, South Luzon Expressway, Manila. The project is meant to improve the water supply in the area.

In Manila, the areas and establishments to have no water are: Singalong and Leon Guinto streets (from Vito Cruz to Quirino Avenue and its laterals); Quirino Avenue (from Taft Avenue to Roxas Boulevard); San Andres (from MSDR to Adriatico and its laterals); Malate and Sta. Ana (area bounded by Vito Cruz, Tripa de Gallina and MSDR); Vito Cruz (from Tripa de Gallina up to Roxas Boulevard and its laterals); and Estrada street;

Also affected are Century Park Hotel, Harrison Plaza, Rizal Coliseum, CCP Complex, GSIS/Senate Building, Central Bank Complex, De La Salle University, and St. Scholastica’s College.

In Pasay City, F.B. Harrison and Taft Avenues (from Vito Cruz to Libertad and its laterals); Roxas Boulevard (from Vito Cruz to EDSA); Leveriza street and Donada street, will have no water.

Affected customers are advised to store water good for 36 hours. They may also check with Maynilad hotline 1626, the nearest branch office, or their barangay chairman for the schedule of water rationing in their respective
