Valenzuela solon to launch ‘Kabataan 1st’ program

Rep. Sherwin "Win" Gatchalian of the First District of Valenzuela City will be launching his Kabataan 1st program tomorrow at 3 p.m. at the Maricopa Restaurant, Malinta, Valenzuela City.

The Kabataan 1st program is a collaborative effort of Rep. Gatchalian, the National Youth Commission, the Philippine Sports Commission, the Technology and Livelihood Resources Center, the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, and the Department of the Interior and Local Government. It has a holistic and comprehensive approach to the development of the youth as individual leaders and as a vital sector that will soon mature and have the next generation of youths to develop.

Upon implementation, the program shall provide the youth of Valenzuela City with more opportunities to enhance their skills, values and awareness. Groups of participants from all 32 barangays of Valenzuela City will have sports clinics, livelihood training classes, a workshop on economic and social issues, a cultural festival, and a City Youth Achievers’ Awards that will recognize all their efforts and achievements. The program is itself a work in progress as the workshop on economic and social issues will involve a post-activity assessment which will recommend projects that may be successfully implemented or endorsed to other agencies for funding and support.

The launching on Saturday will include the signing of the program’s memorandum of agreement and a forum that will be participated in by all implementing agencies, youth leaders and representatives of the major youth organizations of Valenzuela City. The National Youth Commission and the Win Youth Club have partnered to facilitate the event.
