2 diocese heads installed

-
Manila Archbishop Jaime Cardinal Sin has installed two new heads of dioceses – Bishop Gabriel Reyes of the Diocese of Antipolo and Bishop Jesse Mercado of the Diocese of Parañaque.

Reyes was installed as Bishop of the Diocese of Antipolo yesterday morning in rites held at the Antipolo Cathedral. Among those who attended the ceremonies were Cebu Archbishop Ricardo Cardinal Vidal, Archbishop Orlando Quevedo, bishops of the Catholic Bishop’s Conference of the Philippines (CBCP), religious priests, laity and Reyes’ family.

The other night, Mercado was installed by Sin as First Bishop of the newly established Diocese of Parañaque, during rites held at the St. Andrew Parish, in La Huerta, Parañaque. Under the Diocese of Parañaque are the cities of Parañaque, Las Piñas and Muntinlupa.

The Ecclesiastical District of Parañaque, Las Piñas and Muntinlupa, which was formerly part of the Archdiocese of Manila, has now become the new and autonomous Diocese of Parañaque, under Mercado. Sandy Araneta
