Marijuana bricks seized

Alert operatives of the Western Police District’s Drug Enforcement Group seized yesterday 12 bricks of dried marijuana leaves from a bus terminal in Sta. Cruz, Manila.

In a report to WPD director Chief Superintendent Nicolas Pasinos, the DEG said that at about 2:30 p.m. yesterday, they received a tip from an informant about a large shipment of marijuana from the north.

The shipment, police said was to be delivered in the vicinity of the Auto Bus Line at Dimasalang, Manila.

Acting on the tip, elements of the WPD-DEG went to the bus terminal and conducted a search. At the terminal’s passenger lounge, the policemen noticed a large blue travel bag that was suspiciously left unattended.

The policemen then informed the terminal’s management about the bag and opened it in their presence.

Found inside the bag were 12 bricks of dried marijuana leaves, three chocolate bars suspected to contain marijuana and a plastic bag containing suspected dried marijuana powder. Police failed to arrest any suspects.

According to the WPD, the marijuana could have been sent from the Mountain Province where marijuana cultivation is rampant.

Meanwhile, agents of the National Bureau of Investigation arrested over the weekend in Makati City two alleged members of a swindling ring reportedly involved in the production of falsified commercial documents.

The NBI identified those arrested as Felicitas San Agustin, 48, of 123 Bustos St., Caloocan City; and Beverly Cruz, 20, 1018-N, Hermosa St. Tondo, Manila.
