QC father, son shot dead

-
Police are looking for a man who he shot dead yesterday morning a jobless man and his one-year-old son in Novaliches, Quezon City.

Victims Edito Ruaya, 27, and his son Mardie, residents of 27 Geneveva St., Barangay Gulod, Novaliches, both sustained bullet wounds in the body and were pronounced dead on arrival at the Quezon City Hospital and East Avenue Medical Center respectively.

The suspect, identified only as a certain "Lito" and reportedly a neighbor of the victims, fled after the shooting.

Initial investigations showed that the incident took place at about 8 a.m. right in front of the Ruaya’s residence in Villaflor, Barangay Gulod.

According to PO1 Edwin Dela Cruz, Ruaya and the gunman were bitter enemies and had a heated altercation. It resulted in a fistfight in which Lito suffered a blow to the jaw. The suspect reportedly left but returned a few minutes later.

Ruaya, unaware that his neighbor would be back that instant, was carrying his son Mardie. When the gunman appeared, he did not say anything and shot the elder Ruaya in the stomach. Mardie was also hit in the abdomen. The suspect immediately escaped. – Matthew Estabillo
