CEBU, Philippines - The businessmen's group in Compostela has welcomed the town's move to implement tax holidays on newly-established business and industrial establishments.

Manuel Mendoza, vice president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Compostela, Cebu, Inc., said the tax holiday is a laudable move as it will invite more investors to pour in their capital in the town.

Mendoza said most businessmen would want to put up a business in a friendly environment.

According to Mendoza, businessmen will encounter problems during the start of their business and giving them tax holiday is one way of giving them time to strengthen their venture.

In return, he said, the business establishments can help the town in terms of employment and economic development.

Mayor Joel Quiño said every businessman wanting to establish their business in the town will be given support by the municipal government.

Aside from giving them tax holiday, Mayor Quiño said the municipal government will also assure them of effective delivery of basic services.

The mayor said businessmen will inquire first if the town has enough water, power, good roads and good peace and order.

Quiño also announced that he was happy with the partnership of the municipal government and the business chamber headed by its president Pedro Delantar.

The chamber is supporting the municipal government on its coming fiesta celebration.

They have sponsored an auto show in the town recently and have taken their oath last night.

Earlier, the newly-formed chamber announced its support to the administration of Mayor Quiño.

The businessmen's group in Compostela assured its support in the promotion of the town as good place for business and investments.
