Samsam denies some partymates to join LP

CEBU, Philippines - First district Representative Gerald Anthony “Samsam” Gullas Jr. yesterday denied that some city councilors allied with his party Alayon are set to join the Liberal Party.

Gullas Jr., grandson of former Congressman Eduardo Gullas and founder of Alayon, said the report is only a rumor.

“It’s a rumor and it’s going to remain a rumor. Alayon is like family,” he said.

Councilor Dennis Basillote also denied the allegation.

Councilors Basillote, Richard Francis “Choy” Aznar, Socrates Fernandez, Edward Alesna, Dorotheo Emit, Eduardo “Digul” Gullas III, Antonio Bacaltos Jr, ex-officio councilor Charles Basillote, and Sangguniang Kabataan Federation (SKF) president Carmel John Burlas are associated with the Alayon Party.

Councilors Danny Caballero, Val Ylanan, Aldin Diaz and the city council’s presiding chairman Vice Mayor Romeo Villarante are with LP.

Basillote said it is not necessary for him to jump to the LP camp because he is serving his last term, but there’s a possibility he will run for a higher position in the next election.

“Dili man kinahanglan nga mobali ko kay last termer gud ko. Posible hinuon nga modagan ko og higher position,” Basillote said.

Basillote said he continues to have a pleasant relationship with his party mates.

Alayon also maintains a good relationship with the present administration, he said.

However, he admitted having been invited to join the Liberal Party.

Again, will he join LP?

Basillote said his final answer is he will remain with Alayon.   (FREEMAN)
