Foreign student jailed for causing trouble

CEBU, Philippines -  A Canadian-Iranian student is now detained after he went wild after drinking with friends past midnight yesterday.

Davoud Farzi, 18, a Dentistry student in a university in Cebu City and temporarily living at the Robinland building at the Reclamation area, was arrested by operatives of the Subangdaku Police station after he went wild and destroyed some furniture at the Margarita Family Cuisine restaurant.

Based on the investigation conducted by the Subangdaku Police station, the suspect and his friends were drinking at the said restaurant last Thursday evening.

But after he suspect got drunk, he went amok and destroyed 10 chairs each costing P5,500 and a table worth P2,500 and broke three glasses.

Morescallo Gay Hernandez, the head waiter of the said restaurant tried to stop him from causing further damage but the suspect slapped him instead.

When the security guards on duty tried to arrest him he tried to grab the service firearm of one of them, causing a scuffle witnessed by responding policemen.

The suspect was immediately arrested and brought to the Subangdaku Police Station.

A case of malicious mischief and slander is now being prepared against the suspect who is currently detained at the Subangdaku Police station. (FREEMAN)
