Cop dies in road mishap

CEBU, Philippines - A policeman, who was assigned at the Cebu City Police Office, was killed when an Isuzu double cab truck carrying pigs hit his motorcycle at the Cebu South Coastal Road in barangay San Isidro, Talisay City Monday night. 

The fatality was identified as PO1 Philipp Padron, of barangay Dumlog, Talisay while the truck was driven by Edwin Alga of barangay Santa Ana, Barili. 

Police Padron was traveling from Cebu City towards his home in Talisay while Alga was travelling from Talisay to Cebu City.

At the road going to Dumlog, the truck bumped the policeman’s motorcycle. 

SPO4 Cleopas Bonjoc, the chief of Talisay City Traffic Division, said the truck was speeding and failed to utilize his break engine. 

“Ang mga motorista magmatngon gyud sa ilang pagmaneho ilabi na sa pagtabok diha sa CSCR aron malikayan ang disgrasya,” Bonjoc said.

Alga is now detained at the city’s detention cell. – (FREEMAN)
