CEBU, Philippines - Captured militant leader Ramon Patriarca is on a hunger strike again inside his detention cell at the Central Command.
Patriarca who is facing rebellion charges started his hunger protest last June 1.
He said he will continue the protest if the result of his hearing on Monday turns negative.
Patriarca has resorted to another hunger strike to remind the provincial government to follow a court order.
Patriarca has been seeking for his transfer to the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center (CPDRC).
Patriarca is disappointed with Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia for allegedly ignoring a court order.
Lt. Col. Christopher Tampus, Centcom spokesperson, said Patriarca’s health is being monitored every now and then.
“Compared sa una nihugo gyud siya karon pero according to the doctor okay man kuno iyang vital signs,” Tampus said.
Tampus said the only things that could be given to Patriarca are food and magazines to keep him from becoming bored.
At least 20 leftists from the Anak-Pawis partylist, Alliance for the Advancement of People’s Right (Karapatan), and Bayan Muna trooped to the Centcom yesterday morning to manifest their support to Patriarca’s hunger strike. (FREEMAN)
