Korean arrested for "swindling" fellow Korean

CEBU, Philippines - A Korean national who is here in the country as a tourist had a fellow Korean arrested for allegedly swindling him while inside a casino last Friday evening.

Yong Suk Seo, 37, single, of Seoul, South Korea who temporarily resides at Doña Rita Village in barangay Banilad, Cebu City was arrested inside a casino at Parkmall at the Reclamation Area, after Soo Ho Kim, a tourist who temporarily resides at Salve Townhouse in barangay Subangdaku, sought the help of the SWAT team that holds office at the Parkmall claiming Yong gypped him.

Based on Soo's accounts, Yong introduced himself as an agent of the Parkmall casino.

He said Yong tricked him to deposit P200,000 at the casino so that he could play.

But since he can't write or speak English, he entrusted all the transactions to Yong. Soo said Yong also borrowed P15,000 from him.

However, when he went to the casino that night to play, he was surprised to learn that Yong had withdrawn the money without his consent.

Yong during interrogation even failed to present his passport.

He is now detained at the Subangdaku police station. (FREEMAN)
