Three houses burn in Talisay

- Grace Melanie L. Lacamiento -

CEBU, Philippines - Fire destroyed three houses in barangay Dumlog, Talisay City past noon yesterday.

Fire investigator FO3 Marcelino Aguilar put the damage at P300,000.

"Dali ra man na-control, mga 5 minutes ra. Nadugay lang mi sa overhauling," Aguilar told The Freeman.

Aguilar said it took long to reach the site because of the narrow road leading to it.

"Gamay gyud ang agi-anan. Ang firetruck naa ra gi-park sa tiilan sa taytayan kay di man maka-sud," he said.

No one was reported killed or injured.

Aguilar said the two houses owned by Marites Rabaya and John Lo were totally destroyed while the house of John Michael Guba sustained noticeable damage.

"Kana sila, mga anak ug umagad ra ni Romana Guba. Naa ra man sila nagpuyo sa usa ka compound," he said.

He said that the fire reportedly started at the top portion of Rabaya's house which was made of light materials and investigation shows that electrical failure triggered the fire.

No one was at home when the fire broke out.

Neighbors, volunteers from Minglanilla Fire Station, barangay Tabunok, and barangay Sto. Niño fire brigades also helped put out out the fire.

Last January 15, a fire hit barangays Mohon and Dumlog in Talisay.

The house owned by Elsa Palon in Mohon was somewhat burnt and damage was pegged at P175,000.

A few hours later, the residential house of Ildefonso Aguilar in Dumlog was to some extent damaged.

Aguilar is urging the public to check their electrical wirings.

"Mas delikado karon kay ting-uwan man. Magbantay jud ta," he said. — (FREEMAN)
