MANILA, Philippines — Three siblings died of electrocution at their home in Quezon City on Friday, police said.

Investigators said the siblings, identified only as Andeng, Negra and Axel, aged 12, 15 and 19, were at their rented apartment in Barangay Pinyahan.

Initial investigation showed that Negra shouted for help after she was electrocuted while hanging their laundry on a steel clothesline at the second floor of the apartment at 6:45 p.m.

Andeng and Axel rushed to help her out, but they also got electrocuted.

The siblings’ youngest brother, nine-year-old Gabo, called for assistance from their neighbors.

Responders from the city disaster risk reduction and management office rushed the victims to the East Avenue Medical Center for treatment. Despite efforts by physicians to save them, the victims died of cardiac arrhythmia.

Personnel from Meralco who inspected the apartment unit discovered that a circuit breaker connected to an air-conditioning compressor was grounded.
