Ethnic City

Take the off-shoulder trend into exciting new territory. Reversible Kenya print gypsy style off-shoulder minidress

MANILA, Philippines - Geopolitics may have been Stacy Rodriguez’s starting point when she named her fledgling line Glasnost a few years ago. But these days, she is partial to a good ethnic reference. Her recent collection, conceptualized and sewn at Project Runway-worthy speeds in five days (fact: she is studying at Parsons), explores her love for pattern and color. Among the pieces are a party-in-the-side maxi dress, Swarovski-embellished cropped tops and easy drawstring skirts, all in a mix of pajama stripes and batiks that nod to her current internship at Altuzarra. “One piece of Kenya fabric was a scrap of unused sample fabric from the Altuzarra studio that inspired me to go out and look for more in the Garment District,” she says. “Although I want to develop and produce my own prints in the future.”
