Breakthrough

Blazing the trail of beauty, art and innovation, marketing triumvirate Shu-Moto-Globe launched its first partnership deal through the Breakthrough Design Art Competition together with Metro magazine at a unique exclusive venue the city had yet to see at 32 McKinley Rd., Forbes Park Makati. It’s an innovative, groundbreaking competition that offers all art enthusiasts an exceptional chance to showcase their work in a multifaceted venue and a trail that only Shu-Moto-Globe and Metro could blaze, allowing artist exposure to the beauty, telecommunications, retail and media industries. This was a night of overwhelming response from people in other industries as well.

MICHELLE GERMAN

How would you mix art and technology?

Every art design that combines with technology would be really special. I can’t imagine the two together and, if that happens, it would be perfect.

TESSA DRAGON

What is it about beauty and technology that you appreciate the most?

Like Mr. Shu Uemura said, there are as many colors as there are women. Amazingly, there’s so much ado about beauty and that word is synonymous with being innovative. Also, beauty is a combination of art, science and nature as well as technology.

HELENA BELMONTE

If you were an artist, what medium would you choose to illustrate yourself?

I would choose Salvador Dali’s system of time.

MEL CUEVAS

What would you consider a breakthrough design?

It should be something different, something innovative and something out of the box.

JANE KINGSU

What would you do for the sake of art?

I would support break-through artists without being judgmental and keeping an open mind towards their forms of expression.

XENG ZULUETA

What’s the most innovative thing you’ve seen in the last 24 hours?

The “Humping Dalmatian Dog” USB flash drive I got from my sister. It’s from Japan. It was the first time I saw something like that.

ANGELU DE LEON

Which the artist would you want to paint your portrait?

Leonardo Da Vinci so he can make another Mona Lisa with a dimple.

ORANGE ABERIN

How do you experience art in your daily life?

I grew up basically living and breathing art because my mom is a gallery owner and you would never see an empty wall in our house without some artwork.

DIVINE LEE

Which masterpiece would you want to acquire?

The Mona Lisa. I want to practice her smile.
